Michael joined the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home staff in 1993 after graduating from the former Saint Peter-Marian High School. He later furthered his education by attending and graduating from Mount Ida College in Newton, MA where he received a degree in Mortuary Science.
Michael has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Massachusetts since 1997 and has owned Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home since 2004. He grew up in Worcester, and is currently married to his wife Heidi, and they have three children, Robert Delia and Claire.
Michael is a life-long member of Saint Peter’s Church in Worcester and has also volunteered since 1998 for the Adopt-A-Student Golf Tournament with the Diocese of Worcester in an effort to provide scholarships to local students attending catholic schools.
Michael believes that it is important to be active in the community and currently volunteers for many local organizations and is currently serving as the President of the Webster Square Business Association. He previously served as president of the Board of Directors for the Guild of St. Agnes Early Education & Care as well as serving on various Boards including the Main South Community Development Corporation and the Harmony Club of Worcester. Michael was also asked by Worcester Mayor Joseph Petty to serve on the Worcester Economic Recovery Committee in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 impact on the City of Worcester.
Michael also serves as a Notary Public and he takes great pride in trying his best to meet the individual and needs of each family that is served by Alfred Roy & Sons. In his spare time, Michael enjoys golfing, skiing and spending time with his wife and children.
Alfred L. Roy - E-MailAlfred is the fourth generation of the Roy Family to be a funeral director. It was his great grandfather who first opened the funeral home in the 1870's. He is now semi-retired and spends much of his time with his wife Janice and family as well as working at the funeral home. Alfred graduated from the New England Institute of Funeral Services and has been a licensed funeral director in Massachusetts since 1963.
